Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary off of Big Pine Key is the most popular diving and snorkeling site in the Lower Keys. In 1981 the area was designated as a Marine Sanctuary, banning the collection and removal of all coral and marine life that live within the reef. The site is ideal for snorkelers and divers of all levels given its’ varying depths, friendly fish and beautiful corals. The Adolphus Busch is the most recent addition to the dive sites of the Lower Keys. In 1998, the Adolphus Busch was intentionally sunk in 110 feet of water to create an artificial reef. This site has become popular among experienced divers and the diverse marine and plant life that call this wreck home.
